Content Producer- WI
The Content Producer at Courier Newsroom, a non-profit-owned digital news corporation, will be the primary producer of aggregated content for the state site. The person in this role should have the drive to engage and grow online audiences in the state. This person will write a daily newsletter targeted for communities in the state, aggregate 2 - 3 stories from partner newsrooms per day, and produce 3 - 5 original articles every month. The Content Producer is the glue that holds together the creative and analytics team at the national level with the Reporter and Managing Editor at the state level.
State Managing Editor
The ideal candidate will have:
At least 2 - 3 years of experience writing and/or aggregating content for a site, preferably a news site.
Strong writing and content aggregation skills.
Demonstrated familiarity of writing for various social media platforms + digital advertising platforms
Strong project and time management skills
Strong partnership, people and communication skills
Ability to drive original content while also reacting to breaking news and other trending stories.
A drive to constantly learn, evolve and share best practices
Comfort with a fast-paced and constantly changing work environment and ability to perform within it
Newsletter: Write a daily newsletter focusing on state-level news and national news when there’s an impact on the state
Aggregating content: Choose 2-3 stories per day from other news outlets and turn them into an article from our point of view
Original writing: Write ~3-5 original articles every month
Partnership building: Work with partner organizations to spotlight issues or stories they care about
Content creation: Compile a weekly ’things to do’ list for readers and separating by city/region
Social media: Write social copy for posts, schedule them and push them out onto platforms as needed
Creative team: Work alongside design/creative team to develop creative materials as needed
Other: Develop and execute other ideas for creative content, including working with local animal shelters to feature an adoptable animal each week and/or compiling a list of local/state “influencers” who are influential in your community
