The Partnerships Director at Courier Newsroom, a non-profit-owned digital news corporation, will be responsible for identifying, developing and maintaining key relationships for mutually beneficial and strategic partnerships. These relationships will be a critical component for the growth of Courier Newsroom’s local news properties and the proliferation of meaningful original and aggregate content to Courier Newsroom’s audiences. The person in this role should have a strong grasp of political communications, a strong network of relationships with political and media professionals at the national and state levels, as well as demonstrated experience developing and distributing content through digital media channels to achieve measurable impact.
Initially reporting to the ACRONYM Political Director the ideal candidate will have:
At least 8 years of experience developing and managing political and strategic partnerships, working on an IE campaign or structure a plus.
Demonstrated understanding of cross-channel communications campaigns and the ways that social media platforms, digital paid ads, earned digital press, owned channels and organic media can be used in concert to build + deploy narratives to diverse audiences
Demonstrated understanding of different methods of measuring success on social media platforms and how to refine strategies based on outcomes
Familiarity of social media platforms + digital advertising platforms
Strong project and time management skills
Strong partnership, people and communication skills
A drive to constantly learn, evolve and share best practices with the broader progressive community
In the near long term, this position will report to the Courier Newsroom Chief Operations Officer
Cultivate strong relationships with strategic partners and stakeholders in local markets
Use networks to inform local and national political and advocacy stakeholders, including elected officials and their staffs, nonprofits and other issue focused organizations of our media properties and of the different ways to engage with our content; make key introductions to our state and national editorial teams
Strategically use social media channels to engage with stakeholders to ensure there is an organic and mutually beneficial sharing of our content across platforms
Create and implement a strategy combining the above and working against concrete KPIs (agreed upon by National and State Managing Editors) so that we can:
1) increase incoming content
2) increase shares and followers on social media and
3) penetrate local markets with our media properties’ content
Conduct regular, proactive outreach to progressive media outlets to make them aware about our content and identify opportunities for content sharing, licensing, syndication or other partnership models to achieve our reach, engagement and impact objectives
Develop and implement a strategy to engage local and national influencers with our content, in partnership with national and state editorial teams.
Deep Partnership management:
Bi weekly call with clients sharing public coverage of their lane.
Work with media team to align on media plans.
Build plans with client goals.
